The Browning 725 Citori Field Altamont Exhibition Grade Shotgun
Engraved and Gold Plated. [NOTE: Browning Factory Cut, Hand-Chased Checkering is also available. Smooth photos shown.]The Browning 725 Citori Field Exhibition Grade by Altamont Engraving Co is the perfect companion for opening day. Having recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, the Browning 725 Citori has long been highly regarded as an elegant and robust shotgun. It needs no introduction. In terms of pure functionality and styling, it stands with the best of the best.
We have perfected the aesthetic details for this Altamont Engraving Co exclusive edition. Fifty each of Exhibition Grade Claro Walnut and Exhibition French Walnut blanks were hand selected by Merlin Enright for this project from an off-market inventory reserved for only the finest shotguns over the course of multiple years. They were turned and custom fit by Miroku in Japan specifically for this project. They are “Museum/Exhibition Grade” and exceed the Browning multiple “A” wood grading system, and are a premier offering to any available factory wood.
The engraving is Merlin Enright’s signature deep relief carved scroll with gold bird scenes on each side. Pheasants rise from the prairie grass at daybreak on the left side of the receiver. Grouse take flight in the wooded scene on the right panel. A standing pheasant is profiled on the lower receiver, which also features a raised “725” in gold. Each bird is exquisitely detailed and precisely carved down to the individual feather. This deep relief engraving is resistant to scratches and damage, and is perfectly suited for use in the field.
This project is the culmination of almost a decade of engraving development and collaboration with Browning. This level of exquisite factory engraving and exhibition wood are a rare combination. These shotguns are extremely limited. Each of the beautiful wood stocks is one- of-a-kind. Reservations for specific wood stocks and limited engraving pattern variations are handled on a first come, first serve basis. Actual photos of each firearm are shown.
This project took years and more hours than I can count. I cannot begin to describe how it invigorated me and pushed me to improve my engraving skills. Learning to engrave 725’s took me to Japan, and changed my life. I owe this project a lot. Thank you to Browning and Miroku for making this special project possible. Thank you to Dan Kynoch and my father for believing in this project and supporting it. Thank you to all who helped make my dream a reality.
I hope this shotgun is well-used and passed down to the next generation. I have my Dad’s Belgian-made Superposed from fifty years ago. The little dents in the beautiful wood remind me of his adventures and hunting stories. Hunting memories are forever. We had a basic engraved over-under when I was a kid that my brothers and I would fight over using. I won enough that it became “mine”. I still associate that shotgun with all of our dove and pheasant hunts.
I hope this shotgun helps you and future generations make great memories. Enjoy the field.
Sincerely,
Merlin Enright
